Everyone Belongs in Recreation

At River Valley Special Rec, we believe everyone should have the chance to enjoy recreational programs—whether through our agency or your local park district. Our Inclusion Services make it easy for people of all abilities to participate alongside friends and neighbors.

How We Support You

Our team partners with participants and local Member Agencies, including Bourbonnais Township Park District, Kankakee Valley Park District, and Limestone Park District, to provide the support you need to join in programs. This may include:

• Adaptive equipment
• Activity modifications
• Extra staff or interpreters
• Personalized support plans
• Staff training

We ensure every participant can join safely, confidently, and comfortably.

How to Request Inclusion Services

When registering for a program at your park district, indicate that you would like inclusion support on the registration form, in person, online, or via email. Your Member Agency will then forward your request to River Valley Special Rec’s Inclusion Team.

Typical Timeline

• Intake assessment: within 1 week
• Coordinating modifications: usually 2 weeks
• Our goal: independence, inclusion, and fun for all participants

Please Note: inclusion services must be requested each time you register. Our Inclusion Services are only available for programs offered through our Member Agencies: Bourbonnais Township Park District, Kankakee Valley Park District, and Limestone Park District.
