Fee Assistance & Scholarships

Every resident should have the opportunity to participate in our programs. Our Fee Assistance Program helps residents facing financial hardship access recreational opportunities through partial funding, delayed payment plans, and scholarships funded by the River Valley Special Recreation Foundation (RVSRF).

Who Qualifies

• Must reside within a River Valley Special Rec member entity (Bourbonnais Township, Limestone, and Kankakee Valley Park Districts)
• Must demonstrate financial need (e.g., family income, medical expenses, participation in public aid programs, subsidized housing)

How to Apply

• Complete the Fee Assistance application (below) and submit it before the program registration deadline
• Applications are reviewed and applicants are notified with program confirmation

Program Details & Limits

• Available for all programs except overnight trips
• Typically covers 50% of the program fee, up to $300 per participant per year
• Awards depend on documented need, available funds, and approval
• Scholarships do not cover extra costs like supplies, meals, or souvenirs
• Participants with two unexcused absences from funded programs in a calendar year may lose eligibility

• Applications must be submitted each season; prior approval does not guarantee future funding
• All information is confidential and must be accurate
• River Valley Special Rec reserves the right to approve partial funding or deny requests based on need and fund availability
